Nevin — I have built a draft website for LACMS. After the media day, we will insert the necessary pictures and update the necessary text.
About us

Community first. Excellence always.

LACMS was founded by students, for students — a home within the University of Lincoln for anyone from an African or Caribbean background studying towards a career in medicine or healthcare.

Our story

Why LACMS exists

[Placeholder] Medicine can be an isolating course for students who rarely see themselves represented on the ward, in the lecture hall, or in the profession ahead of them. LACMS was started in 2026 by a small group of Lincoln medical and healthcare students who wanted that to change — starting with each other.

[Placeholder] Today we run mentorship, socials, academic support and outreach — but at the core, LACMS is simply a place where you're known.

What we stand for

Our values

Belonging

[Placeholder] Every member should feel seen, welcomed and represented — regardless of course, background or year group.

Mentorship

[Placeholder] We learn fastest from people a few steps further along the path — so we connect students with those who've been there.

Excellence

[Placeholder] We hold high academic and professional standards, and support one another in reaching them.

Culture

[Placeholder] We celebrate African and Caribbean heritage openly, through food, music, history and community.
